At sunrise near the shores of Lake Atitlán, 9-year-old María carefully walks the dusty road to school — sometimes without notebooks, sometimes without shoes, but never without dreams.

In many communities surrounding the lake, students arrive eager to learn but lacking the basic tools needed to succeed in today’s digital world.
